Parenting and Social Media

Ever wonder what teens are up to when on their phones?  In this age of technology, social media applications (or apps) have changed the course of communication amongst teenagers.  This could have a positive or negative impact on their lives.  In a March 1, 2016 Common Sense Media blog post entitled "Parenting, Media, and Everything in Between," by Christine Elgersma, Senior Editor of Apps and Digital Learning; addresses the impact and dangers teens can face while on Facebook, KiK, Snapchat, and Instagram or 12 other common apps.

This article has inofrmation on what parents and guardians need to know about 16 current popular apps.  Stay int he know and up-to-date on social media, this is a new parental task that needs to be on all parent's radar.  So, learn what apps are being used and communicate with your teens about the positive attributes and potential dangers of using these apps.
